getting closer…

i’m getting closer to heading back to new orleans for the first time since the hurricane and i just finished the first iteration of the ny2no.net blog map, look here: http://ny2no.net/map

part of my inspiration for doing the blog map extends from conversations with family and friends who have returned to new orleans since the hurricane. in these conversations i would always find myself always asking for a report by neighborhood. “how’s uptown?”, “is les bon temps open?”, “what about carrolton”, “how’s midcity? did they ever find a owner for the little whole foods.” so i thought it would be interesting to see the entries from the different ny2no blogs posted on a map by their location. this would allow visitors to see where the different voices of the city are coming from and what they are dealing with. a good example of this are the first set of entries i posted. they tended to lean more towards uptown for leisure, entertainment and the things i remember from new orleans that i know that’s currently open or available. While the more you look east more of the posts were more about recovery and the lack of help for rebuilding.

i’m still tweaking the map but if you check it out you should see this post at my old house in new orleans.
