The website ny2no.net was built by ITP Students. They wanted to offer a possibility for different individuals and organizations working in New Orleans to introduce some documents and insights into their work. At their pages they overriding presented projects that deal with parts and neighborhoods of New Orleans that were on the one hand the poorer areas of the city and on the other hand affected by the hurricane Katrina.
As an approach to start this platform they chose a blog. Blogging is a useful medium to publish articles or documentations and to invite individuals or organizations for communication. Individuals had the opportunity to talk to the world, tell their stories and find, for example, useful information about projects, organizations and associations that are able to help.
The platform that houses the website is called WordPress. The students used this way of building websites to interpolate a personal content management and publishing software. It allows a social interaction with the visitors.
As well ny2no.net integrated video blogging and podcasting. The students used this website to publish audio and video contents as well as podcasts. They contained a very useful and strong mean – the video blogging, or the so called vlogging.
Now, the website ny2no.net also deals with themes of homecoming, reconstructing houses and life as well as individualism and social security. You will find interesting and affecting stories or projects that help people to overcome fear and doubt for coming back to their former home and life. These projects are, for example:
- HOME, New Orleans?
- Lakeviews
- Lower 9th Ward Homeowner’s Association
- NOLA Project
- Open Shutters
- The Historic 7th Ward NIA
- The Porch
